Your Car Could Be Stolen Even When Your New-Fangled Key Fob Is Not Present

[Ignore ad at beginning.] In a rather remarkable video, an ABC reporter starts his car using his key fob and then leaves the car running. He then shows a police officer go into the car and drive off despite the key fob not being in the car. There is no explanation of how this could happen. The warning is to not leave your car running even if you can take your key with you because it could still be stolen.

Think About Locking in 5% Interest on Savings

The FED is widely expected to lower interest rates this month. That means while borrowers may save money, savers are likely to see their bank savings accounts pay lower interest. So now is a good time to consult your financial adviser and consider a CD that will lock in that 5% or higher interest rate. (Two weeks ago, MrConsumer was able to get a 5% CD for two years at his local credit union, for example.) You can check deposit rates around the country here for various lengths of CDs.
